Our driving school proudly serves the Raynes Park &
Merton Park (SW20)
area with
automatic and manual driving lessons. The information below is intended
to help you develop
your driving skills further in the key driving competencies and has
been provided by our DSA-licenced driving instructors. We hope you find
it useful.
Areas to do controls/Moving off & Stopping
It is best to start this subject on a quiet road like Erridge
Road.
Left/Right turns and emerging at T-Junctions
WDS recommend doing a circuit which starts on Erridge Road
turns left on to Dorset Road, turns left on to Melrose Road, left on to
Poplar Road and right at the crossroads on to Erridge Road. Then if we
take the next left on to Keswick Avenue and emerge left on to Kenley
Road, emerging left on to Circle Gardens and taking the first left on
to Poplar and turning right at the crossroads back on to Erridge Road.
This allows the learner to practice steering, MSPSL and Peep and Creep
techniques.
Crossroads
The crossroads of Erridge Road and Poplar Road can be used to
illustrate priorities and the extra observation applied at crossroads.
The intersection of Grand Drive and Bushey Road can be used
to provide instruction on the methods of turning right-to-right at a
crossroads.
Roundabouts
The Beverley roundabout can be used to illustrate priorities,
methods of positioning and the appropriate signals for a given exit..
Pedestrian Crossings and use of Signals
Driving down Kingston Road there are plenty of crossings which
can be used to demonstrate the various different types of crossings and
the rules applying to road markings. Planning issues can also be
addressed on this route.
Areas to do manoeuvres
Manoeuvres can be done down Erridge Road.

"My experience of learning to drive with Wimbledon Driving School has been very positive. An excellent instructor with many years of experience; flexibility when planning classes around my other commitments and the ability to have a mock test with a grade 6 Ordit instructor."

‘I really wanted to pass my driving test, I needed the independence, but I have always been nervous. The Wimbledon Driving School instructor put me at ease immediately. Fully trained by the AA, he was calm and patient and that helped me not to panic, even at the beginning when everything seems so tricky. Passing the test has really helped my self confidence’.
Based upon the real experiences of a WDS pupil aged 17.
