Smart drivers choose Pass Plus
Pass Plus could save you money – and your life
If you've just passed your test, you'll have discovered that insurance rates for newly qualified drivers are sky-high. That's the bad news. The good news is that you can do something about it.
The government's Pass Plus scheme is a neat way of increasing the confidence and the competence of new drivers – and saving them money. Many insurance companies are now offering discounts to drivers with Pass Plus certificates. And many local authorities – including the London Boroughs – are offering refunds on the cost of the course.
It all adds up to a bundle of savings on a lifetime of safe driving skills.
No more tests, but loads more skills
Pass Plus isn't a test. Your instructor assesses you as your skills develop. You'll need at least six one-hour sessions covering a range of essential driving skills: town and out-of-town driving, all-weather and night-time driving, and driving on motorways and dual carriageways.
Act now to grab those safety savings
To make sure you qualify for discounts and refunds, you need to apply for Pass Plus within 12 months of passing your test.
REFUNDS: If you live in a London borough and are aged between 17 and 25, you could get a refund of £70 on your Pass Plus fees. The first step is to call Transport for London on 0845 230 1725 to see if you qualify.
DISCOUNTS: Your Pass Plus certificate should entitle you to a generous discount on your insurance. If your insurance company won't give you a good deal, phone round till you find one that will.
