Testimonials SW18

"To Farooq & Wimbledon Driving School,

I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the excellent services of Wimbledon Driving School. I was very fortunate to pass my test for the first time on 8th May at Morden.

Farooq had the patience of a saint assisting me with his techniques and boosting my confidence on the roads. His sheer determination is an attribute to the quality of the staff at Wimbledon Driving School.

In regards to quality, Farooq showed up before my lessons 5/ 10 mins early. He managed the time efficiently and I always felt that I learnt more after each lesson. I never felt that I was inundated with too much information; driving skills and manoeuvres were carried out at a pace that I could manage. Farooq is an excellent tutor and very personable.

In regards to the school I commend it highly and will recommend to others.

Again I do appreciate everything. The price of the lessons are very reasonable, the cars are good quality and Farooq was an excellent tutor.

Thank you very much & wishing you all the best."

Laura McGlynn, Earlsfield, London

Driving Schools in Wandsworth (SW18)

Wimbledon Driving School provides lessons in both automatic and manual cars in the area of Wandsworth (SW18). For those students looking to practice driving outside of lessons, our DSA-licensed driving instructors have put together some in-depth guides to help. See below for a thorough guide to driving in Wandsworth.

Getting used to the car and moving off and stopping
A quiet and suitable street for understanding and getting to know the controls of the car as well as moving off and stopping is St Ann’s Hill.

Turning left, right and emerging at T-Junctions
Wimbledon Driving School suggests the circuit outlined below for gaining confidence in turning right and left, as well as emerging at T-Junctions:

The circuit starts on St Ann’s Hill. The student should drive to the end of the road and then turn left onto Allfarthing Lane. From here the student should take the third left onto St Ann’s Crescent. The road curves around the crescent. The next instruction is to again take the third right on to Rosehill Road. Continue along this road until reaching the end, where the student should turn right onto Geraldine Road. Turning right at the end of Geraldine road will lead the student back onto Allfarthing Lane from where the next right leads back to St Ann’s Crescent. There is a junction at the end of this road and taking a left will bring the student back to St Ann’s Hill.

Following this route will allow the student to practice some important aspects of driving such as steering, peep and creep techniques and MSPSL in a calm and relaxed environment.

Meeting Traffic
When two cars need to pass one another, but there is only space for one to do so, this is called meeting traffic. Dault Road demonstrates a perfect example this.

Roundabouts
In Wandsworth there is a roundabout where Heathfield Road, Wandsworth Common West Side and Allfarthing Lane meet. Priorities and signaling can be practiced here.

Understanding Signals and Pedestrian Crossings
There are several different pedestrian crossings and signals for the novice driver to learn about. Garratt Lane has a good number to become familiar with in Wandsworth.

Areas for Maneuvers
Maneuvers must be carried out on quiet roads so the beginner driver doesn’t get either distracted nor agitated whilst practicing. St Ann’s Hill can be used for the turn in the road and parallel parking. Where this road meets Jeypore Road is a suitable corner where reversing around a corner can be practiced.

For driving lessons in Wandsworth and the surrounding areas, Wimbledon Driving School is second to none.
It is not just beginner drivers we can help, as we also offer motorway lessons and night time driving instruction for those who have passed their test but wish to gain further confidence.
We can help new drivers prepare for their driving theory tests, and offer hazard perception lessons too.

We will put YOU in the driving seat!
