Driving Schools Sheen & East Sheen (SW14)

Our driving school proudly serves the Sheen & East Sheen (SW14) area with automatic and manual driving lessons. The information below is intended to help you develop your driving skills further in the key driving competencies and has been provided by our DSA-licenced driving instructors. We hope you find it useful.

Areas to do controls/Moving off & Stopping

It is best to start this subject on a quiet road like Fife Road.

Left/Right turns and emerging at T-Junctions

WDS recommend doing a circuit which starts on Fife Road, turns right on to Christchurch Road to emerge right on to Sheen Lane.  If we continue down Sheen Lane until we can turn left on to Fife Road. Following Fife Road to the left we are on Parkgate Gardens. We can then emerge left on to Clare Lawn Avenue. At the end of Clare Lawn Avenue we can turn left on to Sheen Lane and then right back on to Fife Road.  This allows the learner to practice steering, MSPSL and Peep and Creep techniques.

Crossroads

The crossroads of Parkgate Gardens and Clare Lawn Avenue can be used to illustrate priorities and the extra observation applied at crossroads. The crossroads of Sheen Lane and Upper Richmond Road West can be  used to provide instruction on the methods of turning right-to-right at a crossroads.

Meeting Traffic

eeting traffic is a situation where two vehicles are trying to pass through a space where only one car can pass. In these situations it is often vital to read the body language of the other vehicle. This is especially so where there are cars on both sides of the road and no priority exists. Christchurch Road  is perfect to develop experience and understanding of this difficult topic.

Pedestrian Crossings and use of Signals

Driving down Upper Richmond Road West there are plenty of crossings which can be used to demonstrate the various different types of crossings and the rules applying to road markings. Planning issues can also be addressed on this route.

Areas to do manoeuvres

The  Reverse around the Corner exercise can be carried out where Fife Road meets Parkgate Gardens. The parallel park can be done in Parkgate Gardens. The Turn in the Road is easily demonstrated on Fife Road.
