Our driving school proudly serves the Fulham (SW6) area with automatic and manual driving lessons. The information below is intended to help you develop your driving skills further in the key driving competencies and has been provided by our DSA-licenced driving instructors. We hope you find it useful.
Areas to do controls/Moving off & Stopping
It is best to start this subject on a quiet road like Stevenage Road.
Left/Right turns and emerging at T-Junctions
WDS recommend doing a circuit which starts on Stevenage Road, turns right on to Gresswell Street and then emerges right on to Woodlawn Road. Taking the third right takes us on to Doneraile Street. At the end of Doneraile Street we can emerge left back on to Stevenage Road and if we follow the left bend it takes us on to Bishops Park Road. Taking the first left we are on Woodlawn Road. If we take the next left we are on Cloncurry Street. We can then emerge right back on to Stevenage Road. This allows the learner to practice steering, MSPSL and Peep and Creep techniques.
Crossroads
The crossroads of Woodlawn Road and Inglethorpe Street can be used to illustrate priorities and the extra observation applied at crossroads. The junction of Lillie Road, Silverton Road and Fulham Palace Road can be used to provide instruction on the methods of turning right-to-right at a crossroads.
Meeting Traffic
Meeting traffic is a situation where two vehicles are trying to pass through a space where only one car can pass. In these situations it is often vital to read the body language of the other vehicle. This is especially so where there are cars on both sides of the road and no priority exists. Queensmill Road is perfect to develop experience and understanding of this difficult topic.
Roundabouts
The roundabout where Woodlawn Road and Lysia Street come together; can be used to illustrate priorities and the appropriate signals for a given exit.
Pedestrian Crossings and use of Signals
Driving down Fulham Palace Road there are plenty of crossings which can be used to demonstrate the various different types of crossings and the rules applying to road markings. Planning issues can also be addressed on this route.
Areas to do manoeuvres
The Reverse around the Corner exercise can be carried out where Harbord Street meets Stevenage Road. The parallel park can be done in Stevenage Road. The Turn in the Road is easily demonstrated on Stevenage Road.
